Drives LPG and/or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials. Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus. Positions fork under loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports loads to designated area(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties as assigned.
To operate all lift-truck equipment in a safe manner following OSHA mandates.

All lift-truck operators must be forklift certified. No exceptions!
Load designated freight on correct outbound freight line.
Weighs materials or products and records weight on product.
Organizes daily shipping needs & coordinates with necessary departments to ensure that shipping requirements are met.
Enforces good housekeeping practices. Keeps all work area clean & organized by moving, weighing, recording dimensions on pallets and staging product.
Calculate the footage required for each outbound shipment by city location.
Verifies bills of lading documentation for accurate pallet counts, weights, & signature. Notifies shipping coordinator for any inconsistencies.
Inspects product for proper packaging & any visible signs of damage.
Stages outgoing product for shipment on loading dock according to Shipping Manifest.
Demonstrates proper loading & unloading procedures.
Physically verifies pallet counts for each shipment.
Inspects outgoing freight for proper packaging & conformance to specifications.
Suggest changes designed to improve control and efficiency of shipping department.
Assists with monthly & quarterly physical inventory counts as necessary.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
One year certificate from college or technical school; minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to use a tape measure & perform basic arithmetic using fractions & whole numbers.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively among employees of organization.
